how far apart should footstraps be? do you measure from the center of the footstrap or the inside edge of the footstrap? mine seem to be quite close to the front and back of the board. i'm worried that the pressure of the water in the middle of the board will be to much and break it. measuring from the inside to inside edge of footstraps i'm at 21 inches. is that a good distance. my board is 130 x 42

Take a measuring tape to your local store and start measuring.
If they kick you out just put the board on the floor with the foot pads on it (placed on it not attached) and stand there moving your feet around till it's comfortable figure our what the width between them is and then centre them on the board where you want them.

Most boards measure between 15" and 16" between the inner insert of one foot strap to the inner insert of the other (the inner footstrap insert is the one closest to the grab handle).
Anything wider than 16" is extra wide and anything less than 15" is pretty narrow, but these are just guidelines.
Good luck.
