Tried my hand at board making.
I wanted to build a course race/wave rider board for low wind small kite riding.
Made this 5'11" by 18.25" sandwich construction board with very thin rails from the widest point at
the front to the tail.
I designed the rear end with a fair bit of flex with maxinum flex at a 45 degree angle from the center line.
Main part of the board has about the same flex as a spleene door...just a bit less.
The idea behind this is that the squared off swallow tail and long straight thin rails would be good for speed and upwind ability.
The significant 45 degree from centerline flex (i am hoping) will give it more of a thin tail/round tail behaviour in the surf.
The angles flex also has the effect of flaring out the fins to help increase bite when carving and grip when landing.
Still have to sand it and give it a second coat of paint.
Hopefully this weekend I'll get to try it.
Cheers
