abrasion resistant bottom skin?

Postby sflinux » Mon Jun 22, 2009 2:55 am

I often ride a board in water that ranges from a foot to less than an inch deep. The board has no fins. I'm noticing the tail is wearing through the epoxy. It's a wood baltic birch plywood board. Is there an abrasion resistant material that I can stick on the bottom? Any recommendations?

I know in the boatbuilding world, it is common to use graphite mixed with epoxy for abrasion resistance. It would probably work with a board too, plus it would look slick :-)

Seems this is a popular question these days. There was a board builders forum topic earlier this month about the same thing.
