is 8 mm of wood buoyant enough? does she stay afloat?
and the first picture: is the board symmetrical or there's photo distortion?
wood core 8mm I hope enough because finally with fiber and epoxy layer is ~9.5mm, I make thin and flexy board special for freestyle
I took meter and check, YES
the board is symmetrical, just photo distortion
:o wow! nice board!im building the same thing at the moment, except with ash core 7mm thick centre and 3 mm tips
please explain how you did the rails and inserts and also was the layup one layer 600gr/m^2 each side?
I think it's milky in appearance because it was a bit dry on layup, this might help you to get a clear finish next time http://www.laughingloon.com/epoxy.html
it still looks really nice though!
ash core will be twice heavy
check the wood destiny table http://www.engineeringtoolbox.com/weigt-wood-d_821.html
the rails I did bit wrong way but very similar like FNB viewtopic.php?f=107&t=2357086
the inserts like ski or snowboard http://www.skibuilders.com/howto/skicon/inserts.shtml
the fiberglass was triaxial 600g one layer each side
You right, layer looks milky, is few reason, maybe fiberglass to wet or just bad, maybe epoxy was not good for hot curing, next time I will do with another harder special for hot curing and super transparent fiberglass
thanks for good link
