daspi, I made one a couple years ago, about 162 x 50, straight edges, no rocker. It works great in light winds, bends real nice, smooth and doesn't need fins, no splash. I used the same stuff for foot pads. The pic is an old which shows I used some old boom wrap but that wasn't cushy enough. I still use windsurf straps but think I'll upgrade to regular straps. I used a cheap can of marine paint, I coat it every spring.

It's really amazing that it can even work, still surprises me when I use it... defies logic.
I use it in light chop as well with no problems, goes right over waves.

I know, I can't believe it ether, these things work! I was out another couple of times and I am learning well with it. Just last session I managed edging and staying upwind in gusty conditions. I slipped out of the straps a few times, maybe this has to do with the windsurfing straps. Then again, I jump with my ws boards all the time and rarely slip out. Maybe I need to make them a bit tighter for next time. But overall I consider my plyboard a full success. It will help me grow.

Happy to say it lasted 3 seasons. Sad to say it broke yesterday after a hop over a wave and landing too hard on the back foot. Snapped right underneath my back foot.

Almost 3 seasons is not too bad for a cheap build like this. I kite a lot and not a beginner any more. Did jumping, back rolls, front rolls on this thing in light wind. Got me on the water when most people are just standing at the beach waiting for the wind to pick up.

I'll build another one just like this. Worked very well in light wind.

your way of building your board is good but your material is way to heavy . use one quarter inch plywood this way u can give it slight rocker about one inch and you will have a med .amount of flex. flex is very important. and the weight will cut in half. make the second sheet match the bottom peice about one inch narrower. and add another peice of plywood directly under the foot pads and where the handle is in the center. and use epoxy to glue it all together. i make wood boards for a lot of people in california. twin tips surf boards and free race boards. and put fins only on the heel side.
