So I'm looking at about $125 for pads and straps. I've seen some nice homemade stuff.

I was looking at my straps on a 151 Liquid Force board and wondering why can't I just screw on a nice pair of those $20 sandals that I wear, you know those heavy duty walking ones?

Anyone tried this?
