u will find plenty of people who will say u cant build your own boards but it is nit as hard as it seems here are some basics foam core 1 inch thick easily available one eigth dood skin top and bottom 2 inch nose rocker one quarter inch tail rocker 24 inches wide 5foot 8 inches long and as for fins i have been making my own for quite a while one quarter inch hardwood with carbon cloth both sides and i resin them into the board for pattern look at airrush 60 and everything put together with epoxy resin with a brush and by hand there is nothing like riding something u made
Stiff is not that important but focus on keeping the weight down. If it is thin it will flex a little. The top boards being raced now are 3.5 inches thick and 70 cm long. so they are super stiff.
as for stifness of course u want it to be stiff most boards are made of 3or 4 inch thickness for floation and covered with many layers of cloth however this makes them heavy because of the resin which is very heavy however if u use one eigth inch wood you get strength top and bottom actually on my raceboards i use no cloth at all the they hold up even with small jumps now i dont race them they are for lite wind the closest to my favorite shape is the north freerace
