I am making my first board. It is a surfboard, mainly because low wind is the main diet in these here parts.

Regarding the fin boxes what are the options?

Can I make or is it better to buy?

If better to buy, what suggestions?

about fin box for surf board i use FCS fin boxes because thet are so easy to install and cheap they are also the most common in the USA just drill a hole with a spade bit and install dont even try to make your own and fins are available everywhere and make it a thruster 3 fin hope this helps u and keep buildong your own boards there is nothing like ripping on something you made however dont be to proud to copy a good shape here are a few simple rules more rocker is better for the waves if u are in a lite wind place give it 3.5 inches nose rocker and one eigth inch tail rocker my favorite shape is the 5 4 f one fish

We have been useing http://www.proboxhawaii.com/ system for the last 5 years and like the system alot. You can fine tune the board to your likeings, the fins can move 1/2" forward or back to make the pack closer or apart. You can change the cant in the fine by changeing the insert from 0 to 8 degrees. And also FCS fines will fit in the boxes also if you like.

here is were we buy our supplies http://greenlightsurfsupply.com/finsandaccessories.aspx

feel free to email me if you have any questions about them..
