I am making my first board. It is a surfboard, mainly because low wind is the main diet in these here parts.
Regarding the fin boxes what are the options?
Can I make or is it better to buy?
If better to buy, what suggestions?

about fin box for surf board i use FCS fin boxes because thet are so easy to install and cheap they are also the most common in the USA just drill a hole with a spade bit and install dont even try to make your own and fins are available everywhere and make it a thruster 3 fin hope this helps u and keep buildong your own boards there is nothing like ripping on something you made however dont be to proud to copy a good shape here are a few simple rules more rocker is better for the waves if u are in a lite wind place give it 3.5 inches nose rocker and one eigth inch tail rocker my favorite shape is the 5 4 f one fish

We have been useing
http://www.proboxhawaii.com/ system for the last 5 years and like the system alot. You can fine tune the board to your likeings, the fins can move 1/2" forward or back to make the pack closer or apart. You can change the cant in the fine by changeing the insert from 0 to 8 degrees. And also FCS fines will fit in the boxes also if you like.
here is were we buy our supplies

feel free to email me if you have any questions about them..
