With thinner core like 1/2'' you MAY get the board to hold 1-2" rocker by glassing it to 4" or so rocker and letting it spring back. With thicker core like 1" especially if not glassed, I think you need to bend it first, probably with soaking and/or steam. Google steam bending.

never seen a CAD of one but your dims sound good, maybe go a cm or two wider if you are 80kg or more.
Make the nose round, wide point about 2/3 forward, parallel rails, wing it.
Some have the wide point even farther forward, for kiting there is no reason for this imho.
I did find the link to the waterlust alaia building guide pdf, looks like there is a cad file link too:
http://www.waterlust.org/woodsled/

About rocker, they suggest using planks that have a little natural curve to them, easier than bending or carving, if you can find planks with a small, similar curve...
have fun!

Does the rails go all the way around the board?
If not where is the start and finish points?

the edge across the tail should be square, the bevel on the bottom, if you can call it that, should go around the rest of the perimeter.

My alaia

Postby gilicom » Wed Oct 22, 2014 7:46 am

Here is what i came up with..
Made it a little longer - around 5'11' (would make it a little smaller), used thin layers of fiberglass.
An upwind machine!
