Thanks Terrie

Andy, I can try my fast and slow WS tomorrow...

About planks, I am paying heaps for a bamboo sheet and even Paul. plank 1.5x0.5 is expensive.
If one can buy the Paul. wood in bulk and cut it himself that would be cheap I think...Bamboo is different, all from China.
The foam price for me is the same as bamboo. It is almost 50% lighter, I weighted a top layer and a foam is 152g and Paul. is 320g. Undecided yet. Will see...

My 139 x 42 paulawnia core i'm planning to layup safternoon weighs 1.5kg. Thats with inserts/fin blocks and a sealer skim of epoxy. Then with a 600/300 biax layer top/bottom it will prob come in somewhere between 3.25 - 3.5kg.

no one has really messed around with foam for years - mostly due to price. anyone ever done a 200kg density pvc core board?

3.25-3.5kg is prettty heavy. Do all wood boards weight that much?

The Nobile 50 is pretty light, all wood:

I am fascinated by the textured top sheet (feels amazing), and how this plastic can bridge almost 10mm from the top layer to the rails as seen here:

You can actually see how they glue wood strips which are not wider than 3-4cm. Also, look at the inserts, dono why this pattern, boots maybe.

I do not understand why the foam price is still so high as well.

I've been building my board from foam (Guirit Corecell M80) and tbh it's really cheap for a structural foam in the UK (£40 for an 8x4 sheet, 1/4in thk)

What is pretty light? Light vs heavy for me is 2kg vs 3kg. However 3kg is OK for a big guy who will trash a 2kg board.

right! and size??
Guys claiming 2.5kg or less are impressive,
until you see the board is like 130 x 39...
Makes me feel better about my boards coming in 2.6-3kg at 134-137 x 41-43.
To me, shape often trumps weight.
But it's rock paper scissors though ultimately, with shape, weight and flex.

Foam or wood?

I am paying for a foam 2400x1200x4mm AU$140. Even a Uni carbon 50mm tape is $6/m...

The above Nobile is $999 (not sure if with straps and fins), which is still so much less than Carved one Toby posted for like 1200-1300 Euros:)

Hello Chris, welcome

D.
