Postby downunder » Fri May 30, 2014 10:42 am

Hi guys,

I'm stocked...

This is not a board: This are the Black Diamonds. So proud of my work

And than, it comes in a pair! Hope you like it!

I do not know if anyone built an TT with a Vector Net Black Diamond Carbon mesh, but here you go! Hence the name for this two:)

The boards are built with the Duravision topsheet at the bottom (protective film still on, ultra shine when off:), bamboo core, Paulownia top layer, FG, and PU:

137x40.5, ~4cm rocker, 4mm concave, premade PU rails
130x41, ~3cm rocker, 4mm concave, poured epoxy rails

And, the last but not the least: The rails glow in a dark:) Yes, the PU is charged with a phosphorus pigment. You can see how is shining in a low light!

That's all. Shout any questions you have...I'll try to add fins tomorrow.
Oh, and they do work with North and other footpads, and on both sides:)

Looks good mate. So what's the advantage of the black diamond stuff then, tortional stiffness? I'm sure i've seen similar on production boards, maybe carved? can't remember. Like the look of your finish on the underside, is that down the duravision sheet? I've got one ready for a coat of laquer safternoon which is looking pretty smart, it's a lightwind wakestyle board - ill chuck some pics up over the weekend. ps - whats the 'shinai' thing all about?

Thanks

torsion it is. I think one should use it on both sides tho. Maybe for a next one.

Duravision is really gloss, not cloudy as Durasurf. And has a protective film which I've found is important when finishing.

Shinai is a bamboo weapon for practice and competition in Japanese kendo sport. One need to name it somehow:)

I enjoyed using this super precise Japanese saw:

Image

The jigsaw is up cutting and this one is down cutting just what I needed with a topsheet. And slices through FG and carbon as butter...

any comment on how far in the fin holes are placed on the longer board?
It's a little unusual, looks like it will be nice and skatey.. ?

Down under,
great looking build!!
can you comment the use of vector diamond on the top sheet?
do you use the carbón to control the twisting of the board?
why carbón on the compression side and nothing on the bottom?
what characteristics did you get by using the vector diamond?
what are the diferences you get from the use of the epoxy rail vs the urathane?
your work and finish is awesome!!
Pedro
