Postby Edge19 » Mon Jul 14, 2014 7:49 am

Hi guys,

Just wanna get things back to the way they were before you know who and his mate took over this great forum.

So what's the latest? Been out riding? Any alterations? Mk2 s etc

I've been 're shaping my fuselage pattern, made it a bit thicker etc brought rear wing back to about 65cm I'll stick some pics on once I'm happy with it.

Cheers :thumb:

Well.

I have been testing and tuning our AR11 Race Wing at the Magma Foil Cup.

The last day at Warnemünde I think I found the right balance, so we can now start producing this wing.

It's not an easy wing, but has great upwind pointing performance and speed, even when underpowered. Very happy how the wing performed against some of the best foils around, e.g. Spotz, KFA and Levitaz.

Hi, Looks great!

What sort of wing span you using? I notice Anhedral seems to be the fashion. I'm using Dihedral with 2.5 up ward angle, just as it's supposed to help stability. Do you think race wings could benefit fit from Dihedral up swept wings?

Thanks for sharing :)

The span on that wing is 60cm.

I have experimented with Dihedral front wings. Yes they are very roll stable. BUT they are too roll stable and do not like it when you edge/lean the board upwind. It fights you when going upwind and during manoeuvres as its wants to autocorrect itself back to level flight.

Thanks Gunnar,
Yes i did see that Dihedral has those characteristics with aeroplanes and did wonder if it could cause problems for banking.
Hmmm just 're measured the angle and it is about 2 degrees. My wing profile is nearly symmetrical, so my thinking is it won't create so much lift. Thus lift forces to the lateral side in a bank won't be so great...

Oh well I'll just have to wait and see unless I decided to flip the baby over lol.

Thanks for your help and great vids by the way.
