I may have missed the answer to this question somewhere on this forum but does anyone know where precast rails can be found in North America? Any idea of the cost?

Thanks.

I am selling them for AU$15. I guess about US$10 is a reasonable price.

You can see them here: http://shop.shinai.co/

Another alternative is to use hot-melt glue sticks. Easy to apply. Variety of materials and colours available.

Nice idea.

PE or pseudo plastic based glue stick doesn't bond with epoxy. PU might but than we need at least shore 85 (or 85-95 even better) + elongation break of an ABS :)

ABS must be sanded and flamed before epoxy. Just to much work.

For anyone interested in PU casting or general cast making, this is really interesting read:

http://lcamtuf.coredump.cx/gcnc/

It has a number of suppliers listed for the US and EU (nothing on AU? :)

As always, the PU is moisture and humidity sensitive, be wary of this in your DIY setup.

Hey guys.
What about the Cabrinha method.
http://www.thekiteboarder.com/2013/01/i ... d-factory/

What are they using?
They are pouring it into wood. Can it be just epoxy?

edit: there was something wrong with the link

Nothing wrong with this method if using a super fast PU (3 sec pot life?).

The problem with DIY is not having experience working with it. And slow pot life means heaps of bubbles from a wood moisture.

Also, Cab buys in bulk and they can discard a lot of PU, which is not affordable for DIY one off board.

I still have heaps of premade rails, once done, it's done, no mess, no fuss.
