It looks like you tape around the rail before laminating each side, then score the glass when tacky to remove excess neatly?
Hi Olas,
I guess you mean " air bubbles " when you say gaps?
My trick is to round all rail edges on foam to radius 2-3mm, seal the blank, let cure, laminate with 4 oz plain weave glass first. Yes, I tape off deck at rail and wrap around over tape. Let it cure. After cure Sand any rail overlapp cuts at corners and nose point, make sure any bumps or threads are sanded smooth, if any air has been trapped, I grind off and repair before proceeding, blow off W air, wipe with Denatured alcohol ( dna) - don't touch with bare hands now!!
Then laminate 6+4 in second step. Let cure, then grind lapp.
Getting bubbles out at rail, you gave to have good light, I use hand held led spotlight 1800 lumen to check entire board very carefully before leaving to cure.
I'm on my 20th or so board now, last year 4 boards, this year 5. So it takes some research on you tube and practice.
