This is a good source for tubes: http://www.carbonfibertubes.net/

I put one together using 25*21 carbon tube with 21*19 CF tube inserts and 3D printed bar ends. 200 g so far. Looking like it will cost me about 150€ for complete bar and lines.
I've ordered kitelines and leaders from premium ropes and will use a non-c-loop release my friend made. No central depower, I'll adjust using rear line leaders. Single frontline flagout safety.

But Tom, what have you done for the centre hole?

I think it is the hard bit to sort out.

Max, I glued a 3Dprinted epoxy plug(70mm long) into the 21*19 carbon tube( 100mm long) and then glued that into the 25**21 main tube.
Today I will drill it out.
The 3D printed part has a hole in it, but next time I will make it solid because it was difficult to align that hole.

Tom,

Why not different color for each end?

I will paint the bar ends.
My first thought was to paint one black the other a bright color.

I tested a way to make the bar grippy, on another tube, but it failed.
My idea now is to wet sand with 600g in grip area. If that works, I'll leave it. If it doesn't I can paint the grip area with some spray paints I have.

So now I have idea to paint both bar ends black, but paint grip area of one side a bright color, the other black.

Will do some tests today.

I bet some hexa-grip would be great. But don't have any. Too expensive to buy.

The best would be to apply a bit of epoxy and wrap with peel ply nice and tight. Remove after cured and youll get a grippy surface.

Can even use some pigments but difficult toget nice finish tho.

Im interested in your bar ends, but understand they are not soft :(

I just wet sanded it with 400g.
Bar ends are hard plastic. It's an epoxy used in a 3D printer called a Form2. It's an SLA printer and I used what Formlabs calls "tough" which had relatively low stiffness but high elongation. Means it is behaving like Polypropylene. I dont think ends will be under much stress. Leaders go through the carbon tubes.
Form2 is coming out with new glasfiber reinforced material in May. It might be even better.

I am concerned the center will not be strong enough if it takes a hard hit. Most force would be an unintentional cl release while holding the bar. The cl would snap up against the center part
With full force of the front lines...
Id Never sell this bar to anyone. It's strictly a personal project and I'll be using it foiling and never un hooking.
