Looks nice Jannik.
Nicely done. The bare carbon strip for left right distinction I assume? Or where you out of cork...?

Yes, it is for distinction. I made some burning decoration tests that I wasn't satisfied with and I couldn't be bothered waiting to have colored cork delivered. So this was the solution I ended up with. I have since discovered some cork burning techniques which I might try to further add visibility.

put some red tape on at the end of the left side; might not look that fancy, but who cares.

Needed bars for my fone diablo kites but could not for the life of me afford over a £1000 to kit all 3 kites. I bought carbon fibre bars for €35 each from kitech and made my own leaders and depower section. All kites flying for under £150

I've just sort of finished this bar:
P70824-120557.jpg

It is a switch V1 center piece with carbon tubes and cork grip. Can't wait to try it out.

Here is an album with more pictures:

Nice looking bar.
But all this efforts to build one out of carbon, yet at the end ending heavier than Boardriding Maui aluminum system...
(Found this hard way, got full monocoque carbon crazyfly bar only to replace my first BRM bar and carbon bar is heavier than BRM aluminum. And BRM bar 9cm/3.5" longer)

Yes, I was interested in buying the BRM but that is not possible from outside the US. Furthermore Kitech never answered my request on their carbon bar, so...

But I like to build and learn stuff and I learned much about different materials, techniques, and how a bar system works. I also managed to more than half the weight of the system and apparently got within 8 gr. of a BRM production bar! Wait a second - I'll remove my line extensions and measure again

But yeah, I've heard it before:
Wife: HEY, let's buy this thing for $$$!
Me: Come on - I can build something like that much cheaper and better!
Wife: *shaking her head in despair*

Awesome, not bashing at all. I love doing things myself as well.

What is actually impressive is - you have used metal center piece and cork grip and ended with bar lighter than full carbon some want to promote as "extremely light" at 210g for €325.00 just for the bar. - vmgproducts.com

An old thread.

But anyone interested in Europe, you can buy carbon tubes, Carbon fiber powder and epoxy from easy composites in UK.
It's probably sufficient to buy a 25mm x22 woven tube, fill the center about 100mm wide with epoxy mixed with carbon powder, then drill and grind out the center holes. You might even cast in end plugs and drill a hole for your rear lines. For under 100 euros you'll be able to 3 bars.

A weekend project. You'll need an electric drill and probably a dremel tool.

Wear a good mask and gloves- don't want that carbon in your lungs
