I stand under correction, but from what I have seen, the colours are depending on the chicken loop size you take with your kite. They have different sizes to cater for different arm lengths and the only ones I have seen a different colour are different sizes.

Hello Mission Man,
what he mean is the rope inside, I got to powerlock chicken loop 28 and 30" and the rope inside is always white and red. That is the one with the problem.

So they have new loops out now? I need to get a shorter one for my waist harness. From what you guys have said it sounds like they think they have fixed the breaking problem?

BTW, can anyone send me their phone number, I can't get it from their site because it wont load.

Hello again,
nobody know if they have fixed the problem, so far no news!!!
But if someone have news or any cabrinha guy reading, we are waiting.
I also make a modification to my powerlock bar:
I add a swivel between the power strap and the loop, make your life easy if you need to spin the bar.

Well, I need to get a shorter loop anyway.

I would love to see a pic of the modified one you made. Having to unlock to spin the bar back makes me sad.

Cabrinha definite has different size loops. Evidently there were enough complaints about last years one being too large so they added the option. Check with your local Cabrinha distributor. They should have it on their price list or at least be able to order it for you.

I also had probs with my cabrinha's last year when I lent them out to guys with short arms. They couldn't max depower it when they needed to.

another problem!!!!!

Postby kitesurfbali » Tue May 06, 2003 5:16 pm

Hello guys,
another problem with the power lock bar!!!!!
please check the red ball that suppose to stop the bar sliding if you let go, today I find that due to poor plastic the line cut it in half!!!
I check on a new bar of a frined of mine and find that the same was happening after only 2 times use!!!!!
I still love the bar but is becomig quite frustrating!!!! I use the 28 cm loop all the time, with the 30 cm I didn't feel confortable.
Still no answer from Cabrinha!!!!

workarounds

Postby Webwart » Wed May 07, 2003 2:48 pm

workaround for ripping chicken: I cut off the rope of the chicken loop and connect the remaining steel-ring with the Wichard shackle. In case you don't want to cut it off just wrap the open loop around the centerlines and wrap the rope with silver tape, this solution successfully has been used for 20 days.

@kitesurfbali: I've have detected the same problem with this red ball. As it sneaky cuts off the leashed line you'll lose your kite when pulling the QR (it will rip off anyway, either before or after pulling QR).
Remove it.

Hello webwart,
what do you mean, is to remove the stopper ball and if you have to let go the bar it will slide up to the end?
Or you mean that if you let go you will loose the kite because the safety leash doesn't work?
Bye Jankie
