fuel 13m 2003...

Postby WILCO » Mon Jul 28, 2003 12:08 am

Read different tests about this kite, only some were a bit contradicting, so who can comment....

Read in a mag that it doesn't become a heavy puller when (over)powered but read this on a website (some extracts):

-Less comfortable when you’re over-powered, it pulls and you get tired."
-The 11.0 Fuel was a sheer joy, the Fuel 15.0 was a bit of a physical puller if the wind got up, still manageable though. The 13.0 sits bang in between the two !!!"
-I loved the 11.0 and even the 15.0 both of which are quite different to fly. I would leave the 13.0 out if I was buying a Fuel range!"

SO it seems they like the 11.0 but don't like the bigger ones (13m)...

And from other people that fly it(13m), I heard that they really thought that you could hold on to the kite for a long time.....

So what's the "truth" Has it a good top-end or a bad one (60kg small board somewhat over 20 knots?)

thnx (rep's) :thumb:

in my experience of them which is only about 200 hours at present.

the 15 has good depower and doesn't become too punchy is gusts, good to 25mph at 70kgs
the 13 has better depower and almost the same low end. a really good kite.
the 11m feels a different foil shape and is really punchy and boosts hard on a big bar, go 5cm larger than standard. the 11m goes to 30mph for me and prefers to be ridden a little lower than the 15, good from 18-30mph.

the 15 is a good fast kite, and can be ridden underpowered and sined fast, the 13 is an excellent kite in its wind with almsot as much depower as the 11 and the 11 is a little fiend, my favourite.

i have the 11m and the 15m and one of my mates has the 13 and uses that with two different boards when i use either of mine.

drop me a PM if you want more details

At size 13 the fuel get the big tips. I find the 13 better than the fuel 11. It has a wider range. I would get the Fuel 9 and the Fuel 13. The fuel 9 has a lot of power. So when you become underpower with the fuel 9 you can go out with the Fuel 13. The Fuel 13 is a very nice kite.
