Whats the best chicken loop with a QR that works, might get rid of the wichard and start using the hook again for more flexibility.
I have a normal line i tie a s/steel ring on, want a chicken loop to tie on the end of my depower line so can swap it when the line wears.
Cheers.

Macca I've been on the Maui Magic one for six months after ditchin the Shackle, no problems and releases every time and with the right adjustment you can quite happily launch UNHOOKED ( cause of 90 % of all accidents ) and just hook in when you reach the water, safe as houses, well as safe as you can get I guess.

That works since 2002. And is standard in 2004.

Avoid the new North Chicken Loop: the s/steel rectangular loop at it's end is too chunky to consistently release through your spreader hook... seen it happen & heard of it happening to someone else. Avoid.

i've had a few friends who have had trouble with the nasih release, at some angles the pin can cause the tube to swell and lock up.
best one i've found so far is the new takoon one, but get the later version with the extra metal loop rather than the rope over pin version that came out pre-xmas. check the new kites they have the newer new version. even comes with a natty little fabric tail to stop it falling.

Looks like you have modified it with the rope.
Can you explain?

MadM: What is a chicken loop without a
ROPE (wrapped up for pretty packaging)
I use Maui Magic sliding pin. Use every session to self land. Always smooth. Never had used under extreme load <-- that is the problem area with these things. I just pull harder when load is bigger (in case). Pin is strong enough not to bend.

the depower on the flysurfers are pretty lousy. I have had better luck with the airrush and ozone. I have never had to pull the pin, so I use the whatever loop and just replace the rope with Samson amsteel for the depower rope. The blue amsteel seems to last longer than most dyneema or vectran braids.
