Kitesurfspot in France?

Postby Beacher » Tue Feb 03, 2004 7:27 am

Does anyone of you know a good beginners-spot (for the summer) in France (I,m really a beginnner so flat shallow water is prefered).

It would be really great if you know spots in the north of Frace (That's where my girlfriend want's to go to this summer  ).

I hope you can help me?

Good winds to all of you

Hello,

I come from Brittany (west of France) and i'm a beginner also.
I don't know very well north spots but you can have a look on that site :
http://akif2.free.fr/index.php?url=spot ... php&clic=1
or
http://membres.lycos.fr/frenchspots/
I'm sorry, these sites are in french.
If you tell me precisely where you will go (which city or department) i could answer.

Lac lacanau and the bigger lake just beneath lacanau (forgot the name).
If there's wind (this could be a problem in summer) it's a nice place. The water is flat and (mostly shalow).

And if you improved your skill and comfort in riding the ocean is only 10 min driving :)

Have fun

I think France isnt the best place to stay during summer.. its more a winter, spring spot. I was in Hyeres. There are two locations. Almanarre and Les Salins. So you can choose if you want offshore or onshore. if one spot is onshore the other is offshore and other way. Almanarre is good for beginners and les salins has a wood fence near the beach.. but if you are a little familiar with your kite its no problem.

Lake beneath Laganou is Hourtin, also a good spot for kitesurfing.

Lacanau and hourtin are located in the south west not in the north (however, those places are better than the north to spend the holidays).
I think the best is to wait next week end to check http://www.kitebeaches.com
