TAKOON SCOOP3 OR GK LIFT2?

I THINKING OF BUYING A 9M KITE!LOOKING FOR TAKOON SCOOP3 AND GLOBERIDER LIFT2!HAVE ANYONE TRIED OR HEARD SOMETHING ABOUT THOSE 2 KITES? THX A LOT FOR UR HELP

I have not tried the Globerider kites.

But they are almost a copy of the Skoop kites (also designed and tested very near each other...) - so I dont think there will be much difference on a Skoop2 and Lift2 really...

The Skoop3 is a bit different - less drag from the LE.
But I have no experience yet, in how it performs compared to other kites.

Anyhow - I am pretty sure they are very alike, and you can choose whatever kite you like the best personally, of these.

They have good windrange - thats a good thing about these kites

The lift2 has the KPO system (on all sizes I think) to move the front attachement points dynamically and the scoop3 has the WSL on the larger sizes..not the 9..so they should be pretty different. But I haven't flown them yet. I think the 2003 lift had a pretty similar feel to the original skoopI, at kleats in the 11.5 which was th eonly size that I flew both, but better the lift had construction with dacron between all the struts and the canopy.

Even if the kites were a dead match,
which I am not sure they would be,
I'd go for the Lift 2

The bar and lines are way better
I've seen too many problems
in this aspect of the Takoon package

I am sure Takoon will fix it
they are not a premium kite co. for no reason
but for right now they seem to have an issue

besides I think they GK's are a bit
less $ for a really solid package
and the KPO is a real benefit
to the range of the kite

I agree with Gottmore.
When I was testing the GK 12m L2 a few days ago.
Another guy was out on the 9M L2 and was well powered.
I dont know if the Takoon has the 5th line system but it is great on the GK.

Hi Gottmore,

could you please get a bit more specific about the Takoon bar - I think it´s a benchmark regarding the integrated leader lines I´d wish to have on my North bar as well !

The webbing attachment for the front lines
is "not exactly"
IMO
its not up to the task
its understitched and comes apart
result? 2 line kite -rears only,
broken rear fly line from stress

also the ball on the lines thing is also a "not exactly"
result?- 3 line kite Kamakaze-
resulted in ripped kite


too many failures at both points
not just one time incidents
I have seen both conditions first hand

To date,Takoon has warranted broken items
but the ripped kite was the Owners problem


I think they have a few minor items that need to be addressed
The end user can avert this by modifying the above points
and have a good bar set up

color coded fly lines
opposite pigtails

Gottmore - I cant find the pics you are talking about ?

WSL ? Cant find it anywhere in the gallery (and the Search function does not work...)

Is it the standard notation for "Wing Span Line", or what ?

Anyway - curious, as we have not had any problems with wear on the Takoon bars here, neither the 2003, nor the 2004 (that we have used since october now).

I dont say it dont happen - but I am curious what you have experienced of course ?

I was out with the 9m2 Skoop3 today - and was amazed that it was so well balanced - not too quick as one might have feared.
The AR is much lower than the big ones - but it still has the lift and power and stability.

Almost all small kites have this today though - but it really works fine the 9m2

By the way - the new bar is designed so the loop can be used for handle pass moves.
A slightly bigger loop, and a stopper ball so the trim will fit perfect when you hook out, instead of getting powered too much up.
And the QR will work no matter what....

You have to cut the Chicken Loop lock pin of course - as you dont need it when doing handle pass moves.
And you can always mount a lock on your spreader bar later, if you want to lock the loop again.

Its listed in the company section of the gallery under Takoon. the pics you are looking for are at the end. They were just posted on the 20th. And indeed they are the wing span line diagram

None of what I have described happened directly to me, however, I was an eywitness to one incident and had hands on the results the rest of the times
the webbing broke on three separate bars. Every time it has looked like the stitching gave up.

the ball on the lines broke two sets of lines- I think the culprit here is the sharp angle the lines go through creating a chafing point?

again, I would say its minor issues, but onme that needs to be addressed
for now by the end users and moving forward by Takoon

Takoon is a very progressive company, and has stood behind each incident warranty wise. I'm sure they will remedy the situation.

I'm surprised to hear this may be the first time this has come up?
I thought I read a while back about people complaininga bout the same issues or at least about the stopper ball.....

Go for the 2004 GlobeRider Lift, it's a level above all other LEIs I have flown!
