my point!
back then a 2 line 9.0 kite for sure was just for pros...but we didn't have anything else! An no quick release and no clue what to do...and we didn't get hurt, because we picked the right locations and where extra cautious.
And the more you get dragged behind it, the more cautious you will be!
That experience might help you in a future situation better than having a bow kite...
sorry Toby but that's just junk. no question, bow kites are better for beginners who then learn the skills more quickly and safely before moving onto hybrids or C kites even. Just because that's how everyone used to do it (and plenty people got hurt and died doing it back then) doesn't mean that 'hey you'll be fine, you'll learn the hard way etc etc..'
Come on, kitesurfing has moved on, bow kites/loads of depower Vs C kite loads of power??
The argument that you don't learn enough on a bow is not only wrong it's dangerous.
The modern Kite market is thus:
Beginners - Bow kites - safety & depower
Intermediates - Hybrids - safety, depower and more performance
Advanced/Pro's - C kite - pure performance.
The C Vs Bow kite argument is totally obsolete and baseless.
Just IMHO you understand
