Airush Lift 18M good for light winds?

Postby JeromeM » Thu Apr 05, 2007 8:03 pm

I'm 210lbs, live in Canada.

I have a 13m Ozone Instinct that will be good for most days but for the days where the wind is light, would I be ok with something like a 06 Airush Lift or Flow 18M?

I know they are 2 different types of kites, I'm just looking at ensuring I make the most of the light wind days.

hey, howd that mod work out for you on the 13? notice much difference?

maybe just a bigger board would help, i thought the 13 is pretty good in light wind... im using a 6'2" and sometimes even a 7'4" surfboard when its really light.

I haven't had a chance to test the mod yet :(

I have a 159cm board as my beginner board, never really thought of getting a surf type board instead.

I was on the lake this winter with the 13m and there was not much wind, had a real hard time and had to stop trying while others were on 16M+ kites and were doing better then me with keeping the kite in the air.

i know ive been out many times on the 13 quite powered while others have been on 16-18m kites and not as powered as me. but again iwas on either a mutant or directional. if the winds that light id much rather be on one of those than a large twin, getting some new skills.

anyway, if youre not as powered as guys on 16s you may actually have to pull your depower strap in a bit, use the speed of the kite to get you going, its pretty impresive i think. also if you dont sheet it in a bit in light wind it will have a tendecy to back stall and fall. and if its that light you wont get it to relaunch.

was thinking of the mod, but dont know if its worth it or not on the 13.
