High wind kite need a suggestion?

Postby Wave_Ride » Mon Jun 04, 2007 2:09 pm

Hi All,

I'm looking for a kite for smooth riding in 23-30+ KTS wind.
Any suggestion for a size and brand? Only a C kite.

Thank You :thumb:

depending on your weight go for the 9 or 7m fuel 2007.

For me 25-30 knots 9m at 80kg
and over 30 knots 7m

I'm sure others will say naish torch as the fuel and the naish seem to be the stand out "C" kites for this year.

the fuels are great :thumb:

Any 7 to 10m Kite will do, brand who cares, but the slower the kite turns the better, small kites turn to fast.

Not sure what strong wind is like where you ride, but around here it gets gusty to really gusty. A C-kite may not be the best way to go if that's the case. Also do you need to self launch and self land in those conditions?

When it's blowing 30+ around here there are very few people out around here so I have to self launch and self land...can be a problem without the right kite. Went out on 30+ and when I had to come in and land it was gusting to 40 and just above. :o

For these conditions I ride a Flysurfer Pulse set to a slightly more c-shape than stock. Masses of depower, super stable and really reliable self launch and self landing. It's a fully brideled foil, so pretty far from your request of a c-kite, but what I'm getting at is you do need to keep in mind the whole solo launch, solo land and gusty conditions. Remember when it's blowing that hard people just don't hang around on the beach... :thumb:

Cheers

Fred

Hey I've been to a local shop in FL that has good deals on Airush Lifts. I'm looking at getting a 6m as a trainer kite. Construction seems great and from what the shop says its super stable.

Doesn't come with a bar, but they have a ton in there [ some real funky looking ones!] but its a "C" kite so most should work. I think $399 out the door.

What is the wind range of 9M fule 2006?
How is the Naish Torch 8M 2006 in general? And how his wind range?
Most of the days are around 25 kts.
