Peter Lynn Repair Question

Postby RI Jay » Wed May 09, 2007 2:54 am

Anyone have a quick and dirty solution to replace a spar on an Arc? I dropped the kite hard into the water the other day and broke one in half.

Hi Ri Jay.
Go to any decent camping store, ie. REI, and get a set of appropriately sized or longer collapsing aluminum tent poles. You can cut them down to size and use the same rubber stopper to cover the end. Another option is the solid fiber poles they sell in the garden department of most Walmart's and such. Hollow carbon rods can be ordered through the internet as well as found at hobby kite shops. Old windsurf tubular spars can be cut down to fit. Lots of options.. Where are you located? What PL model and size? I might have what you need right here.

This is a great web source for fiberglass spars.

http://www.gwtw-kites.com/showproduct.a ... rglass+Rod

Buy the FL-505 - about $8 per spar.

I use them in my v19 and v13 and they work great. Added bonus is the fiberglass won't corrode like the stock aluminum spars.

I have no connection to the website or Peter Lynn.

Tap plastics sells carbon fiber spars for $6.
If you have a store near you, check em out.

may be u can buy some Venom² poles, it s a 3 part alu stick and despite i crashed my venom² hard on snow and ground i never managed to break them. but as said above, cheap replacement poles work well too.
