Instinct Sport or Edge - Turning SPEED?

Postby Flyozone » Fri May 11, 2007 3:42 pm

I had fly this 2 kites in 13m in a very low-wind day...

In this conditions the Sport appears more rapid on turning speed!
I try the Light 12 but for very short time, and it looks even more faster.

I Need your opinions for the turning speed of the Edge and Sport… are they fast enough? Witch one is more faster?

Best Regards,

HS

I have a 11m Edge and 13m/9m Sport...

13m Sport turning is fine, not that fast but ok, loads loads better than the 06 Instinct 13m...

11m Edge turns fast, sweet sweet kite absolutely loving it....

They are quite different kites

I have flown both the edge and sport alot and IMO the sport has a tad more power or grunt in a bottom turn but turns slower. Both kites eat up the gusts. I prefered the edge because it is fast turning and jumps better than any kite I have ever tried. I also love these kites on the snow!

What was wrong? We tried the Edge 9m, original bar, in gusty onshore wind between 20 and 40 knots. Walking into the water, kite in the zenith, the kite suddenly fell a few times out of the sky. It was dangerous, because a few meters over the ground the kite started again, right in the power zone. The kite also had a backstall tendency.

Every kite at zenith with strong gusty winds is dangerous, even if is a peter lynn arc.
the kite should be placed at 10h or 2h. :thumb:
About the backstall tendency, its true! but I noticed that is only in lightwinds.

After 8+ years kiting, all year around, I think I know how to walk backwards. Something was wrong, don’t know if it is the new 9m Edge, the bridles, the length of the lines or the bar. Could not check it, only trying different setups with the adjuster, the kite belongs to a Ozone dealer. He had the same trouble.

If you like the way the 9m Edge flies - I like it - try a brand new kite, Core Riot.
