There was a show called 'Strange Planes' (on Discovery Channel I think) that had a pretty good section on the 'Inflatoplane'. They also had some coverage of 'emergency inflatable wings' for military aircraft......the idea being that if one of your wings got shot off, this inflatable emergency wing would take its place and allow you to safely land.
They were nothing if not imaginative
