2006 waroo 16, rear bridle mod, can i use the 2007 kit?

Postby buttercutter » Tue Jun 12, 2007 10:36 am

2006 waroo 16, rear bridle mod, can i use the 2007 kit? I want to mod my 2006 but don't want to mess with it on my own, just want to buy it complete. Can i just slap the 2007 mod on the 2006? Also, since this is a 16 and they make 15 or 17m now, which one would be best? Thanks.

Butter, you don't need it, the rear kit is to compensate for the increased aspect ratio in the 07's. The direct rear bridle is as fast as the 06's go.

thanks for the info. A friend said he changed out his rear bridle on the 06 and it worked a lot better. Even with just one pulley instead of the 3 knots. I can see the kite bunching up strangely on the tips when gusts hit it. So will probably just buy the mod kit for the 17m and shorten if necessary.

I also went to a single pulley on my 06 16. I like it better... the kite seems less fluttery most of the time... it loops tighter (instead of on one wingtip) and generally behaves better.

Not sure what this new aspect ratio whoohah is about but I'm not buying it...

I don't see much difference either. They even told me that the 07 bridle would not work on the 06 but i have seen people who basically copied the 07 bridle and put it on the 06 and said it worked way better. Guess i'll just have to play around with it a bit because it seems like it pinches with no pulley. I love the kites just want to get it rigged the best possible.

you've been mislead. the 06 and 07 bridles are worlds apart.

I made my own dual pulley rear bridle for both the 16m and 12m Waroos.
It makes a nice improvement in the turning of the 16m especially. It also flutters much less as the canopy tension is more even.

I have not tried the 07 Rear bridles, but it is my understanding the only difference is the length of the line is less. You would need to add a pigtail to the end to keep using the same knots you are now.

In other words measure the distance from the connection points to the first rear line knot. Once the new bridle is in place, add a pigtail so the first knot is the same distance as it was originally.

The front bridles are supposedly much different although I have not confirmed this first hand.

HTH,
Ken

Hi

If you can speak some spanish you could get into:

http://www.forokiters.com
or
http://www.spainkiters.com

and ask about " Sergios bridles " for the waroo´s 06 and for sure you will get dozens of replies how good they work.

Long story short .... Best would never ever recognize the work done by Sergio ..... although " his " bridles were mounted on the 07 waroos and now also in the Nemesis 08 ( on the front lines )

Anyway , I have tested almost all warros from 06 starting the 7m thru the 14m and with the " bridle " they have a far better high end , almost no flutter when fully de-powered ,same low end .

If your kite is still in good shape the mod is definitely recommended .

Saludos
