I heard last summer that replacement battens for the Vegas kite would be the plastic Rebel type to reduce breakage.

I'm sure they are in stock at the distributor. Dealers often don't stock them, since demand for them dropped with the switch to plastic.

Nope, Just replace your 06 glass battens with the non-snapping clear nylon ones from the 07 kites...they do them here:

I have both a R7 and a Rebel7 for quite some time now. When I crash both kites hard on the water while trying to learn new tricks, the new plastic cambattens also break.

Replacement sets here in Holland are difficult to get. They only order sets for bigger kites, which you have to trim to fit your kite size :o

So far 4 battens down.

Another minor irritation: with both kites only 2 spare battens were supplied. However in the instruction manual it says 4 battens are supplied. I have asked my shop WTF? But all North 07 kites only had 2 spare battens... Just annoying
