9 as smallest kite nuff for Brazil in Nov-Jan?

Postby moheet » Sat Sep 01, 2007 5:20 am

Hi everybody!!

We're going to NE corner of Brazil form mid Nov until mid January.

We have 9, 12, 16 Torch and are wondering if we need someting smaller then the 9.

My husband is not the issue but i'm 55kg and don't want to be sittin around on the beach watchin my hubby kite.

Do I need a smaller kite or should I be ok with my 9?

Thanks a million!
*Chip

where do you go? If you go to Cumbuco up to Paracuru you should be fine.
If you go further up towards Jeri I would get a 7 as well.

55 kg .. so I used my 7m Rebel 4 days out of 13 beginning of last October in Paracuru .. I´d say a 7m is a must for a girl in Brazil, it was kind of standard size I´ve seen at least in Paracuru for kite chics. Unless you´re the big air kite chic to outbeat Toby .. :girl:

Leave the 16 you won't use it, plus you don't go all the way to Brazil to fly a big kite.

yeah, if you decide to go further along the coast (Prea), DO bring a 7m, you will most probably need it while your hubby is riding his 9.

Keep in mind that the further you go North the stronger the wind, on average Prea blows about 5 to 7 knots more than Cumbuco.

In regards to the 16, if you do use it, it shouldn`t be until January, probably between Cumbuco and Paracuru.

Pm is you need more details regarding our area.

Cheers, :bye:

Spend a night here: http://www.tropicaliente.com.br/tropica ... rt_h1.html

It's a really cool place right next to the beach, cheap, you get your own cabana, and no reservation required.

You probably want to head right to Cumbuco after that, and when the kids jump on your car and say they will take you to a cool place make sure you hire them.

why stay in Fortaleza?
Go straight to Cumbuco, only 45 min from the airport. Then decide from there where and when to go, if you didn't make up your mind already.
Much nicer to wake up in a small village with kite people around you and being that close to a kite beach...

Bring all gear, then you are on the safe side. 16 you can leave at home, if you are not heavy weight!

Hello there,

I spent three weeks in the area last year and I used my 7 in 80% of the days. I weighh 70 kgs and hanged around Prea.
Especially if you ae trabelling together I recommend trying out different places until Jericoacara. The landscape is amazing, and you will have a hard time going back. Jeri itself is pretty good fun, quite developed these days, Prea is just around the corner (10 m buggy) and the area is incredible, nice experience for both kiters and non kiters. You must must must do a downwinder from Prea to Jeri. The guys in Prea will sort you out.

Enjoy
Jorge
