Checking videos and Magazines seems pretty clear that the majority of the riders are not using the handle in twintips.
Is there any reason to not use it, an I'm missing something?, or is just aesthetic ?
Cheers

reason is you can't use it in competitions!!!
I used the handle a lot to put my board on my feet in the beginning but nowadays its really only on because its there. I hardly carry the board by handle anymore either!
but it's not in the way so I leave it on
The only thing I still use it for is flipping it from heelside to toeside when I lost it in the water and its the wrong way
So the only reason you want to remove it if you don't do competitions is for show... yeaah I think I'm cooler than the those others because I haven't got a handle on my board!

important discussion!
The most don't have handles, because back then no one should use handles for board-offs to judge better.
Now they barely don't do board-offs.
I always had one and will always have one, since I base my boar-offs on the handle, since this way I can do them with more style.
I wish the tours wouldn't make such a buzz out of it and have the rider have the decision, what he wants on his board and what not.
Otherwise people could demand, that using straps on board doing freestyle is girly style!
Let the people use what they want!
And if I enter a board off comp, I will keep my handle on...let them disqualify me, I give a shit and will stir it to the max!
And if there is a guy pulling the same trick and same height as me, not using a handle, he can win, no problem!

I met a fella who had screwed a freewheeling doorknob to the centre of his board... just so he could grab it and let the board rotate like a helicopter...
One of these...

I wish I could see a video of that! Would look awesome!
That's what I mean! Allowing no handles in comps only takes away the diversity of the tricks...and this is what WE want to see!
And going big!
