removed grab handle - do i need to cover the threaded hole

Postby rsillsley » Tue Sep 04, 2007 9:12 am

Possibly a stupid question..

But i dont bother riding with a grab handle on my board (i like to see my mates struggling to rescue my board when we are 5 km off shore in a raging Levante...)

After removing the screws should i fill the holes with wax or something to seal them..

The thing is my new fancy 2008 RRD Posion board (lush board) has this wood core... I dont want water seeping in, bloating the wood and causing lots of damage...

Any thoughts??

u shouldnt need too, but hey if ya feel the need id suggest a little clear selastic, so if u do sell the board u can gently dig out the selastic and put the handle back on.

If you think about it,whats the difference when the screw is in ?
None.
There are probably unused screw threads under your footstraps too.

Just leave them.They can't leak.

^ That man knows what he is talking about. I've lost two boards due to seagull infestation.

Be sure to cover those holes if you want to keep your board, especially now because it is their nesting season.

no need to cover it.
Or just a sticker over it!

just make sure you coat/fill them at least once a month with ky jelly (water based- ask at your pharmacist) to prevent osmosis and corrosion

Normally the're solid stainless cups.
They're absolutely fine to leave uncovered.
