Right before I left the beach today, I heard from Salty Steve that someone might have died by the jetty. The lifeguards confirmed that someone was indeed rescued from the jetty and taken to the hospital, but did not know any details other than that.
Has anyone heard anything concrete?
There were 50+ kiters in the water today plus another 40 on the shore at any given time.

All I know is the kiter died, he flew a blue 13 warrow and a pink board.
We are unsure who the kiter was.

If you guys are right (I really hope you arn't...) I'm sad to hear about this.
Does anyone know more about the accident?
Was the accident at the jetty or was the victim just recovered there?
Did the victim have any protective gear?
If anyone had any details please rend them to Rick Iossi. He does a real good job at putting accident details together and running good reports here on the forum.
I'm sure he will pop up on this thread.

I hope this report is in error too. If not, my sincere condolences go out to the rider's family and friends.
I searched some local news sites this morning but couldn't find anything about an accident. If more details become available please PM ricki or email flkitesurfer(at)hotmail.com.

Yes, LBFD confirms there was a decedent. I'm phoning Coroner for
(possible) ID and other info.

I haven't heard back yet.

This is terrible news. I'd be interested to know how this occurred and the skill level of the rider. My sincere condolonces.
