Boston Kite surfing

Postby blair » Sat Aug 11, 2007 9:27 am

Looking for an idea of what kitesurfing is like in the Boston area. Wind, decent beaches, distance to spots from the city etc.
Could be spending a year there and the kitabiliy factor will seriously influence my decision.

There are a few spots close to the city. Pleasure Bay is a nice but during the summer months you have to wait until 6pm to ride. If you don't mind driving there are some good spots north and south of the city. Cape Cod has great riding and the best wind. N.H. has a good selection of beaches that work in every wind direction. Just make sure you have a big kite and big board because the wind is very light around here, until we get the nor'easters then it can blow anywhere from 15-50 kts

What size kites you guys ride in Boston?

I'm 160 - 170 lbs (depending on the season :)) and I'm looking at those wind charts... doesn't look like there's a lot of wind (especially near the city). I'm thinking about Slingshot Link 15m and Slingshot Fuel 11m for better days?

Any suggestions?

thanks,
ranko

Thats about right....mostly 16m & 14m for light wind and 12m-9m for the good old nor'easter.
