Where to Kite on Oahu March 30-April 6

I'll be in Oahu (staying at the Marriott Ko'Olina in Kapolei) and need some recommendations on where to kite. Also, what can I expect on wind speeds and what kite sizes are being used most?
Finally, would love to hook up with any local kiters so if you live or will be visiting there, let me know!

P.S. .... I't would be nice to take a local lesson to familiarize myself with the area etc, so any recommendations on local instructors would be appreciated too.

What is your skill level and how much do you weigh? March / April marks the end of Winter, so there will be more squalls than during summer and a greater likelihood of a North swell than summer. The two main spots are Mokes and Kailua. If you're an experienced waterman looking for waves, then it's Mokes. But catch it at high tide. March has the biggest tidal range so during low tide the reef will be sticking out of the water. If you're a beginner / intermediate or not used to tropical surf, then go to Kailua. Read and follow the rules and play it cool, the launch in Kailua can get pretty busy. Winds range from the low to high 20's at Mokes (afternoons on a sunny day) and teens to low twenties at Kailua, so pick your kites accordingly. Squalls can kick up the winds another 5 - 15 mph, so keep an eye out for them.

Skill level is intermediate, weight 155lbs.
Sounds like Kailua is probably best, and my 7,9, 11 Waroo's.

No... not banned.... we're still good. Zilch on the wind, but hopefully thinking "We've been in this friggin' doldrum for 5 weeks already... It's got to end sometime...."

If you call either the Naish shop in Kailua (808-262-6068) or Hawaiian WaterSports (808-262-5483 http://www.hawaiianwatersports.com" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; ) in Kailua, they both have information on instructors.

Jeez... I hope you'll be able to use the 7m while here..... odds are pretty low..... you would almost definitely use it on Maui. If you get bored on Oahu, you could take an overnighter jaunt to Maui and use your 7m. Tautologies knows that circuit really well. Probably your 11m is what you'd use in Kailua.

I've been watching the wind in Oahu....pretty low....sounds like I'll be leaving the 7M at home and bringing the 9, 11 and 14 instead.

I am staying about a 1/2mile down Kailua beach from the kite launch area (west of it). Can I launch from my spot on or can I only launch from the kite area? I am extremely competent and not going to get my kite into someones house.
