Bring on your cool kite details...

Postby Wetstuff » Fri May 16, 2008 5:52 pm

I love new brands of kites. Besides the present-to-self factor, you can see if they're designed to meet a price or if the designer actually uses the things he sells.. Most kites these days seem pretty good, so it's left to the details to move a brand up/dn the impression-of-quality scale.

I got a 2008 J-N DaVinci ...and one of the neatest things was this bit of webbing to park the Tongue Depressor. (for you with straight valves; it keeps the ball valve open when you try to get air out of the strut.) There are other things ..but this caught my attention.

As someone who makes things in the US: this detail would be a PIA to put into production if there were not 40 people waiting to replace this worker.

Oooooh... that is smart. I have a F-One bar that does not handle the 5th nearly as well. ..But do you need a mini-loop in the era of sliding stoppers?!

Who's Core Combat? (I've been away...)

Is that your proto DV? Looks like a non-standard colour too - Got a pic of the whole kite?

They've had those bits since the WildThing2. However, the serial DaVinci has one-pump now. The little bits of webbing are no more!

re: core bar ^^
Screws look too close to holes in the insert -line wear possibility?
Why does the insert need 3 holes?
Why is it plastic?

Three holes to untwist the lines automaticly, 5th- line does not get twisted, works great.
Here a pic of the release system with integrated swivel:
