I use the GSS pad on my board in combination with stock Slingshot straps, and I must really say it is the best pad I've ever tried... Compared to the Luxury pads, I find the GSS more comfortable and with more cushioning. Still, I feel in total control of the board, because I have the straps pretty tight and my feet "soaked" into the pads. My only concern is that the GSS is totally flat, while the Luxury is concave under the heel, which makes the foot slide into the straps a bit more with the Luxurys... Still think the GSS is the best pad out there, though...

Regards.

are the pads heavy since they're 'gel' filled?

Yeah, they are a bit heavier... But even if they are heavier than a light pair of pads, we're still talking about pads. Compared to the rest of the board....

Being totally flat, is it slippery?

That's one of the biggest advantages of the pads, they stick to your feet like glue because of the different patterns in the rubber that you can see in the pictures. Also what you can't see on the picture, is that they have even more rubber patterns on top of the main patterns, if you get me... They're also using different density rubber which makes some of the parts more sticky in certain water conditions... This is starting to sound like I'm just pimping 'em, but just give them a try, you won't regret it! At least if you want super comfortable pads with loads of suspension...
