Who says there is no wind in Indonesia?

We all know Bali, we have seen the well known locations and the usual attractions. Allow me to introduce a new kite -and windsurfing spot in East Java at just a stone-throw from Bali.

Our charming Bangsring Breeze resort rests on nearly 10,000 square meters of land on the slopes of the mighty volcano the Kawah Ijen in East Java.

Hemmed in by fields of agriculture and teak tree plantations and set two kilometres back from the beach, Bangsring Breeze is a tropical sanctuary of lush gardens and stylish accommodation.

With breathtaking views overlooking the island of Bali and its sister island Menjangan and positioned in the middle of lands where Javanese folklore and mythology were born, Bangsring Breeze offers a sense of tranquility and authenticity and is the ideal location to unwind and to immerse yourself in the mystical charm of its surrounding.

Opening in summer 2014, Bangsring Breeze consist of one main villa with two stylish bedroom suites and two contemporary Javanese joglo style garden bungalows.

The accommodation at Bangsring Breeze was designed to take in the magnificent panoramas wherever our guests choose to recline, cooled by natural breezes and characterised by our colourful gardens and seemingly endless views over Bali and its sister island Menjangan.

Our resort is a short 15 minute drive from the East Javanese ferry port of Ketapang, where one can take one of the many car-ferries crossing the narrow strait of water between Java and Bali.

Although as of now, most of our guests reach Bangsring Breeze by car, we expect to see more guests fly directly to Banyuwangi from cities such as Bali, Surabaya and Jakarta, as Indonesia’s leading air carrier, Garuda has recently opened up direct flights to Banyuwangi.

Each year around May, the South Easterly trade winds reach Indonesia. This marks the end of the raining season and the start of the dry season, or as we like to name it, the Windy Season

Where in Bali we have come to accept these trade winds will hardly ever blow over 15 knots, in East Java and in particular at Bangsring Breeze, it’s a whole different story.

These same South Easterly trade winds get funnelled through the narrow strait between the islands of Bali and Java. Add the mountainous terrain on both sides of this strait and the temperature differences between the land and ocean surface temperatures and you will have the perfect recipes for strong, constant wind.

You might say that Bangsring is the Tarifa of Southeast Asia. Where Tarifa has the Levante, Bangsring Breeze has its Breeze, hence we have named our resort Bangsring Breeze.

As a cherry on the pie, right there where the trade winds are the strongest and most constant, lays a small uninhabited atoll enshrined with white sandy beaches and turquoise waters, named Pulau Tabuhan.

Pulau Tabuhan is described as a picture perfect flat water spot for those who love free riding and throwing their latest tricks in super smooth water.

Beautiful untouched scenery, combined with steady trade winds of up to 25 knots between May and November, will make this the newest kite -and windsurf destination in Southeast Asia.

Where are the waves??

At Pulau Tabuhan you won't find waves. What you will find is picture perfect flat water for those who love free riding and throwing their latest tricks in super smooth water.

When in Bali there is just enough wind for your big kites, we ride our 9's. My biggest kite is a 9.5...

We have steady trade winds up to 25 knots between May and November.

For waves, we take our power cat, powered by two 300 HP engines, south of Banyuwangi in East Java towards some hidden wave spots.

We just came back from 3 days of kitesurfing and windsurfing at Pulau Tabuhan, a small pristine island between Bali and Java, Indonesia. Overpowered on a 7 m2 and a twintip and nicely powered up windsurfing on a 5.0 m2. Life is good when it is windy!
