how big is too big?

Postby tracstarr » Mon May 05, 2003 6:06 pm

i'm looking to get my second kite, a bigger one, but i'm not sure what would be too big for me. i'm 160 lbs and ride a 142 outlaw. right now i have a PL 840 but i'm looking at either a 12 or 16 m kite for a bigger one. should i go 16 or would that be too much for me to handle on average? the winds would be anywhere from 8-15 kts, anything above that and my 840 is perfect for me right now.

thanks

Why not the 1120? That'd give you a similar feel to your 840, but in a larger size.
Or the G-ARC 13 if you want the latest & greatest?

only reason is that i can get a great deal on an Ocean Rodeo in those sizes. plus i'd like to try a LEI :) i love the PL arcs and would get another, but i'd also like to try a few other kite types too. and with only 3 riders in the province, not a lot of other peoples kites to try first.

you should go for the 16.
if you have a wedged 840, the low end of a 12'd be about the same.

the PL840 has more power than a tubekite of 8.4 squaremeters.
