This was written two years ago about an accident that happened four years ago. We have continued to learn new things since that time such as careful selection of appropriate quick releases and proper tip release snap shackles to improve the chances of proper function and other related considerations. Hopefully, the reliability of QR has improved as well. The main point of posting this again was to emphasize the hazards posed by squalls that commonly appear in hurricanes, tropical waves and feeder bands.
