No, not really. It looks like the western Pacific is closer to the mark on that one. Still tropical cyclones occur in MANY parts of the world as shown below:

There is a lot of violent weather out there worldwide at some time or another, not just tropical cyclones either. Florida doesn't have a monopoly on hurricanes as I am sure most of us realize.
