Flysurfer Speed 3 19m Deluxe Vid in about 6-8kts Fun Factor

Postby PBKiteboarding » Wed Sep 02, 2009 3:55 pm

For KiterS that want to tackle lighter (Darn Lightwind Spots) winds or to get more power if they want to kite more days or hours, or have some power to do some tricks.

Just back from Lake Como in Italy, great time with lots of info and detail from the Flysurfer Team, lucky to be Flying the Speed 3s there, we needed the power to get 4 days of kiting in this beautiful spot. Saved again... for light wind kiting.

Now back home The Speed 3 has got me out 2 days in a row Sub 10kts...
Fun Factor... Another day I wouldn't have been able to stay upwind let alone for the odd trick or jump...

Speed 3 19m

More Depower
Smoother Handling
No Zipper
Faster Turning
Less Tangles
More Stable
No Over Fly
Easier Relaunch
Easier Unhooked
Better Gust Handling
Bigger Fun Factor

Vid helps to show fun for some...

Complete bollocks? I don't think so. The SA even could do 8, I know as I have seen it.

COMPLETE BOLLOCKS???
if that was 6 to 8 knots even cool air you would have to weigh next to nothing to get going.
If you weighed next to nothing to get going there is no way your weight would offer anywhere near enough
resistance to the kite for it to turn that fast as shown for its size even with the new improved speed 3 and a 60cm bar.

maybe 6-8 knots below the tree line etc etc or in your dreams or bedroom. the water says more than 6-8 for a sheltered lake.

Pimping are we, or out and out BS???

I am sure the Speed 3 is very nice etc etc but cut the crap or will the speed 4 enable you to walk on water in 4-6 knots?

In that range it becomes more challenging for sure,
But don't forget the light fabric still flyes in that range,
so if you have the skill and the right combo you never know untill you try it.

Well, 6 7 8 9 or even 10 kts, I sure don't think I could do that with a 15m C or even a 15m flat LEI, so it's worth something!
Looks fun :thumb:

Hello again Weasel.

While you are busy again insulting people you don't know, I will let you and the rest know that on the Speed 2 19 / S Glide / 190# I spent about 3 hours on the water while my friends (who all fly LEI's) stood on the beach, held their wind meters high in the air, occasionally made a quick attempt with their biggest LEI's and big directionals ending up downwind, and finally got enough wind to ride for 45 minutes. The area is super flat, no obstructions, and they said the whole time I was out it was blowing 6-10 mph (not kts). They had to see it to believe it. They live in a windy area so they have no need for an SA but they were believers. You have never seen it, yet you are an expert just as you are at insulting people you don't know.

I wish you and your respectful personality were at SPI in April the day that Naish and North had their demos. Pretty light wind. 200-300 kites on the beach at the north flats. For an hour or so only 4 kites were out staying upwind. All SA19's. Smallest rider 185# on a spleene session 141. Eventually the wind picked up and all had a great time. Beautiful day. But in the lightest of light that kite and those riders you love to insult were the only ones having fun on the water.

If I lived in a real windy place I might not want the expense of a SA19. But I really don't know what kind of mood disorder or negative nasty mindset I would have to buy to feel I had the right or duty to insult people who are using them and having a great time.

And 6-8 knots, smooth water, right conditions is very possible, a little technical and requiring some skill, but definitely possible whether you believe it or not.

A lot is possible. For example, I never knew it was possible to insult good people who have a good time until I read a few of your kind words.

Take care.
