Postby Gogo » Sat Mar 29, 2008 12:37 am

Thanks,

Cabo Frio is supposed to have excellent waves. Also further south around Florionopolis should be excellent waves.

Check the beaches on http://www.kitebeaches.com" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;, some should have some videos linked to it to see the conditions.

Or go to http://www.kiteforum.tv" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; and search for Brazil or wave, and see what is available.

Check also this one, just heard they get very nice waves:

Enjoy!

Toby, are you sure it's a good Idea to go to Floripe in August? I've heard it's rainy and cold that period...

I don't know about when to go...look up http://www.kitebeaches.com" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
Sure, August is winter in Brazil...so you could be right...

But maybe then it gets the best waves?

August in Floripa/Ibiraquera will definitely be chilly, I would bring a full suit if I were you. In August the waves should be great, expect overhead +. As for the wind, 3-4 days a week is about normal.

I have never been to Cabo Frio so I can't help there.

How is the weather in Cabo Frio in July / August? Is it "beach" weather?

If you wont to have an great experience like sailling with wales at really good conditions, pack your luggage, pick your ticket to Florianópolis and go straight to Ibiraquera.
Wind blowing up to 20 knots, 2 to 6 feet wave, sunny day, and if you get tired of it you can ride in a very clean and safe lake wich is perfect to freestyle...

Yep, Ibiraquera and Floripa, August willl be chilly, but you'll have nukin wind and sweet waves.

Just buy a Mormaii wetsuit when you arrive in Floripa, good price, good suits.

Praia Campeche (as does 12 other beaches) has nice waves also, but to be with other kiters, surfers and windsurfers, Ibira is the spot.

I go between the Lagoa in Floripa and Ibiraqera, haven't found a better combo on the planet.

Plus, the after sailing fun is 1st class.

How to get there, a route thru Porto Alegre then switch to GOL will work, flights go thru Sao Paulo also, but POA is a better flight, for me.

I spend the night in POA, then go to Floripa the next day, took the bus last time, not a bad ride, nice bus. Ibiraquera can be found from Floripa by asking any kite shop or any kiter seen in the Lagoa or Praia Mole. The kiters in that area are some of the most fun and friendly you'll encounter, have some fun, I'm heading down for my 179 days this Sept!!
