there is not really any spots on magnetic island the bays are too protected. There are lots of spots around Townsville. Get in touch with the local kite shop- Kite and Board Co, the guy Craig works there knows all the spots

Nelly bay works alright on a SE but gets quite shallow at low tide, not to mention the reef that gets exposed. Not too bad but there are much better beaches around such as Alva beach (1hr15mins south) or Cungulla (30mins South)

Picnic Bay works on a SW and can be quite strong but once again, is shallow and a lot of bombies in the area as well as the jetty.

Horeshoe works on a NNE but does not get the best wind. Best place to go in a northerly is Bushland beach, 20mins north of Townsville or if your up for a bit of a drive, Lucinda which works insanley well on a northerly (probably twice as strong (or more) as anywhere on the Queensland coast.
