New Royal Kiteboarding gear.

Postby Chris1973 » Thu Apr 03, 2008 8:58 am

Has anybody tried the new Solo kite or the new High Five board from Royal yet?
Does anybody know any specs about that board? in their site they don't say much :angryfire: (length x width :?: - single concave, bouble concave, flat :?: )
How does the Solo compare to the Era?

Hi,

Yes I have used the Solo. It's a really nice kite. I'm doong unhooked frestyle and ride waves UH.
It's stable, fast and has god feeling on the bar just as the ERA.

The solo has a little less grunt pr. m2 compared with the ERA. Where the ERA sits a bit further back, the solo is a bit more forward making it very shooth.

Smooth, easy and fun is my experience with the solo. As something new, there are no pulleys on the bridle which is very clever. This gives bow range but a very direct feeling and no hardwave maintanance.

Sure you will be getting to test one out. I personally will keep my ERAs in the larger sizes and add Solos in the smaller. However, some here are dooing it vice versa.

Give it a go to se if you like it. There are so many great products out there - I just love the Royal stuff!

for sure agree with bording on the solo, it is a great all around kite and the hi5 is tons of fun for someone who wants a good all around surf type board with more options than a standard surfboard. the board is 5'0 and i believe the width is 47. can't recall how much concave it had.

The new One is in a very nice construction. It has a moderate rocker, single concave with rail. Slightly rounded rails.

Dr Bording, would you say the solo is better for unhooking than the era? i've got an era 8 at the moment but i find it backstalls a bit unless i pull in a heap of depower before i unhook, which i'm taking a while to get used to after coming off torches...

Is the solo a hybrid? What does it feel like for unhooking... like a C (ie good)?

unhooking on the solo is for sure very nice. the era has more low end power and requires more trim on the depower line. the solo feels a little more forgiving unhooked and doesn't really require the depower line to be trimmed much if at all.

Do you know who is producing the new One?

:-)
Does it also have FRT technology?
Previous One was the same board as the 2007 Underground FLX.
Is the new One, built with the same technology as the SS Lunacy?
Greetings,
Capi
