Kitesurf shops In Houston TX anyone.

Planning a little trip with work to Houston-New Orleans-Lafayette in January and just wondering of there were any Kite shops around the Houston area to drop into for a cup of tea and like minded chat. Any info would be most welcome.

Thanks
Phil.

Hey,

Check out Phil at XL Kites in Seabrook. Phil and his wife are great people, and have a full service shop to boot.

http://www.xlkites.com/

They have been a great addition to our kite community which previously existed of WSP Water Sports, Charlie has since closed his shop and is strictly online.

Hope this helps, have fun on your trip.

Kite Scarecrow,

Thanks for directions to the store, is there a kite-beach near to the Houston store at Clear Lake Shores?

Would you recommend it?

Yea, Phil and Charlie are stand-up-dudes!

The Levee is the best/most reliable spot to ride. Look at kitebeaches.com for more info... Stay away from there if the wind has any west in it.

For westerly winds (driven by cold fronts) we head down to San Luis Pass on the west end of Galveston Island (about 1.5 hours from city center Houston). This may be the best flat water spot I've ever ridden.

If there are any other questions, please feel free to ask...

By the way...
This time of year, we are mostly in full wetsuits, and I really ride in my Drysuit (Maybe a bit of overkill on my part, but I hate being cold)

Shoot me an email if you wish
