Has anybody tried the new Advance Kites?

Postby marksmith » Wed Aug 11, 2004 8:37 am

I've seen one flying in Cairns last week, seemed to fly very well, giving good power and an impressive upwind to the rider.Didn't get the chance to take a close look though...

Hey fellows... I've started riding Advance kites roughly 3 months ago... I have been using Wipikas pretty much all my kitesurfing life and thought would never use anything else, but had to change my mind!! I've got a very good deal and decided to give it a go!!! It took me a few rides to get use to them...but hey now I'm a happy chappy!! Big wind range, good power and hang time, very smooth and stable...super dooper quality!! Should try

i had the chance to observe some team riders of advance kite during my stay in sardinia in july.

i was really impressed :thumb: the kite seem to be quite similar to the takoon kites: big range, quite quick flyer, impressive hangtime & upwind.
saw them on a mistral days with 30+ on the 12m2 kite: wow...

one day, with the wind around 9-10 knots fully onshore, we were all trying to get a go. no one managed to get a start (i was on my gaastra gxr 03 16,5, others on north rhino 2 20m2, or big cabrina etc).

then this guy went for a try: small board, advance 18m2. impressive performance: went upwind immediately, some very nice transition jumps with one or two rotations (still the wind didnt pick up)

so a guy tried with a naish 18m2: no chance, neither one of the other guys with their kites.

when i have to replace the gxr, i will definitely consider the advance kites... (maybe i can test it against takoon (thats what i ride in 12 and 7.5 m2))

Hi guys,
I have a quiver of Advance Kobra kites. When i tried this kites, everything was diferent because i came from another type of kites (takoon, globerider)...
After two weeks i said...YEHH!!! What a kite!
Normaly i ride with the 12.8m or the 9.4m and i must tell you that actualy i give the biggest jumps that i ever had in my life.
This kites have a huge range, very good capability of upwind...and the hang time...

Try and youl will understand what i say :thumb:

I have full quiver 17.7 / 12.8 /9.4 and I am really pleased with the kites. :D
The 17.7 is a lightwind machine with an impressive pull and a hang that will amaze you. The 12.8 has easily taken the place of my CO2 -03. It have a good constant pull and I can go upwind when my friends use their 16m2:s.
I have never jumped so high as with the 12.8.
The upwind performance and lift/hang is great with the Kobra´s.
I can really recommend them!!
It takes a couple a sessions to get use to the pull but once there.....! :thumb:

I have reports of people who saw this kite by sheer coincidence going through some test.
ADVANCE is doing hard work on this M A R kite that will be a top wave rider.
Very good input. And the kite is believed to be very good looking.
This kite will run together with the present Kobra I believe.
