Toby,

Can you limit 1 username per IP address and 5 posts per day per username.

three words:

NAT
proxy
dynamic

NAT = network address translation = multiple computers using one ip usually belonging to a router

proxy = much the same as a NAT but bigger

dynamic = as in dynamic IP addressing meaning the ip changes whenever you connect your modem or reconnect your dsl modem

or proxify.com or other anonymous web-mungers

or library/public terminals

so no it isn't a great idea :bye:

1 username/ IP ???? You are kidding?

How about companies with firewall and setup that all 1000 workstation shows as one IP in outside???

And how about users who come from modems (isdn/adsl/...) and have different IP every time?

perhaps if toby was able to lock it down to one MAC address per user account, that at least might prove useful.

and i'd be all for that, then some people might start to realise which guys really do multi personality and those who dont.....

Not sure of any ways to get mac address from a web browser... that would be nice though.

We are always making suggestions, but how flexible is this software really? Does Toby actually make changes to the code? I have a copy of phpBB and out of the box it looks just like KiteForum.

That said I know you can apply plugins or modules to it to do different things, maybe there is one for sorting out multi user problems.

no, I can't change the code.
It is a standard phpBB forum with some minor changes.
