Postby bestseller » Tue Oct 12, 2004 2:06 pm

Now I am using a x2 18 and x2 14 I was thincking to buy this new torch but i am not sure on the wind range, do you thinck it's better a 18 - 14 or 16-12, I have a 150x42 light wind board and a 130x36 high wind board, the wind where i live is never to strong it goes from 10-13 to max 28-30knots

Not fair to compare those two.

Torch is like Vegas.

R5 is like Naish Raven (replaces X4).

Naish must love Norths 5th E. Raven sounds like R5 knock off.

That not nice off you Dwight....

I sail the North and Naish kites, from R5 too Torch... your right about that the Vegas/torch is the "same" kite, and R5/Raven looks like the the will be to.

But to call the Raven a "knock off" is like saying that North "inventet" it all, and Naish is just a copy cat/Best kite......

I like them both, and i like their gear.... One year one is first, the next year the other..

I sail the R5 on the TT SOL, and it was the best "combo", for me this year... I think the new Jamie Pro is too flexi for unhookt... But great for jumping.

Knock off comment was based on reading the Raven press release. You could close your eyes and it would sound identical to what could be said about the R5. Imitation is the best form of flattery. I'm happy to see Naish go the same route. It confirms the 5th E is the best way, for now at least.

I agree, even from a totally unbiased perspective the new Naish kites with the 5th Shift system just look like shadows of the Vegas and R5 Image

independently from who was first:

1. Octopus is a great feature on Raven and I know what I´m talking about after few month with one pump. I definitely missed it after switch to Vegas.
2. New Naish kite bag is same as SS and lots of mates will miss a back pack.
3. Cool black colours come from ..
4. AR looks higher on Raven compared to R5
5. is carbon tip batten really still adding benefits to North kites ?

Seems as Naish currently tries to take the best of all worlds and patent discussions not being worth a penny ..

let´s see how they´re going to perform as that´s finally what we´re seeking for !
